August 30, the traditional celebration of the holiday "Freshman Day" was held at the renewed Knowledge Square of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute".
This year, the KPI has opened the audience for freshmen already 115 times, so the celebration was particularly solemn. Note that if in 1898 the institute accepted only 360 students, but now the 5000 yesterday applicants join the family of Kyiv Polytechnic students.
New replenishment of polytechnics were congratulated by Rector of the NTUU "KPI" NASU academician Michael Zgurovsky, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Toichi Sakata, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Science and Education Deputy of Ukraine Liliya Hrynevych, chairman Solomenska district in Kiev State administration Maxim Lutsk, Rector of the Warsaw University of Technology Jan Schmidt, chairman of the Section of pupils KPI in Poland Janusz Fuchs. Deputy of Ukraine Dmitry Andrievskii, president of the Polish Educational Foundation "Perspectives" Waldemar Sivinsky, rector of the Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture Peter Kulikov, rector of the National Aviation University Nikolai Kulik and others also came to congratulate the KPI students.
With the sounds of the National Anthem, National Flag of Ukraine hoisted at the sky above the Knowledge Square. The right to raise it this year has been entrusted to the winner of the World Mathematics Olympiad in Blagoevgrad in Bulgaria student of the Institute for Applied Systems Analysis NTUU "KPI" Eugene Polishchuk. And then the winners of national and international student competitions and academic competitions; top athletes University - champions and winners of competitions at various levels, members of national teams of Ukraine in various sports; participants of art collectives of Center of Culture and Arts KPI; the current holder of the title "Queen of KPI" and "Mr. KPI" solemnly marched before now freshmen. After that the students - amateur groups ballroom and modern dance and the best vocalists of the University demonstrated theit art on the square.
Finally, large letters that formed the name - "KPI" accompanied by colorful balloons soared in the sky above the Knowledge Square!
