In 2015, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute became one of the first higher education institutions in Ukraine to adopt its own Anti-Corruption Program. The conference of the university staff then supported this initiative and gave impetus to the further development of the university's anti-corruption policy.

And on December 10, 2021, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (hereinafter - NAPC) approved a standard anti-corruption program of a legal entity (hereinafter - the Program). It is noteworthy that the Anti-Corruption Program of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute of 2015 had already provided for the need to implement such norms, which the NAPC later included in a document typical for the whole of Ukraine.

However, the process did not stand still: On June 20, 2022, the Anti-Corruption Strategy was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and the government approved the Anti-Corruption Program for the period up to 2025.

The issue of updating internal anti-corruption standards for Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has once again become particularly relevant.

This is understandable, as Ukraine has embarked on a great path of transformation, which will not succeed without an effective fight against corruption. And at the forefront of the state's anti-corruption strategy are educational institutions, especially higher education. They have a great responsibility for maintaining integrity and anti-corruption in the scientific and pedagogical environment and during the educational process. And the formation of integrity and anti-corruption "in theory" without practical demonstration makes no sense, as it is a real hypocrisy.

Therefore, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute prepared and, after a public discussion, approved a new version of the University's Anti-Corruption Program.

The staff conference on April 20, 2023, supported these changes. The university's anti-corruption program became the basis for further development of the anti-corruption policy of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

At the same time, it should be noted that the university has already done quite a lot in this area. The results of systematic surveys of students and faculty on corruption at the university show that Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is generally free from these negative manifestations. However, the positive results of the surveys among the KPI community should not be a reason to slow down the development of anti-corruption policy at the university. On the contrary, the process of professionalization of anti-corruption activities should be raised to a new level. The idea of integrity and anti-corruption should become the goal and vision of the university's sustainable development in the long term.

Involvement of students and staff in anti-corruption activities not only at the university but also in the field of education in general is a step towards the development and activation of civil society. Involvement of the nation's intellectuals in anti-corruption activities is a key to Ukraine's becoming an equal among the developed countries of the world.
